But I did get a picture of Belle ready for the Dawgs! Who said a Westie can't wear Bulldog gear?
We went down to Atlanta with Matt & Krista and got settled in to our hotel, the AC just a few blocks away from the brand new Mercedes Benz stadium - which we had just visited for the SEC Championship game back in early December! The hotel was great; the weather was freezing cold!
But the night before the game, we scored tickets to a very intimate Zac Brown concert at a newly-renovated venue called the Tabernacle. We were so "up close and personal" and he sang all the favorites!
We ended up at Waffle House that night ... man, oh man, how much fun! The next day, the boys went down to the football festivities while Krista & I slept in. We met up to get lunch at Legal Seafood and then did some tailgating at the hotel with Traci & Lark and Elizabeth & Josh. It was pretty low-key; but as rainy and nasty as it was outside, it was just what we needed. Game time wasn't until 8 p.m., but we heard Trump was going to be there, so we headed out about 5 to get there "in plenty of time"! But it was still tight - waiting outside in the rain for about 45 minutes which wasn't much fun, but just to be there, was worth it!
The Dawgs played awesome in the first half and were leading at half-time. But no Saban team is going to go down easy and they mounted a crazy comeback in the 2nd half with a Freshman quarterback. Unfortunately, the Dawgs fell short in their first attempt at a National Championship since the 80s and we left the stadium deflated ... wondering "what if" and thinking "hopefully next year!"
